Composer Jacinth Greywoode, a Florida native whose family hails from Sierra Leone, West Africa, probes the myriad entwinings of text, voice, and instrumentation within a personal and tonally-inflected idiom. His  works, which range from classical chamber pieces to Broadway pop songs, have received performance throughout North and South America and in Northern Africa and Europe and have been premiered by such ensembles as the Calidore String Quartet and the Stony Brook Contemporary Players.  From 2012 to 2013, Jacinth was a Teaching Fellow with the Sequoia Foundation of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where he worked with elementary school students in  English and music, and in 2015 he composed for the International Music Festival of the Adriatic, from which he received the Duino Prize in composition.  

A resident of Brooklyn, New York, Jacinth received a Bachelor of Arts in music from Princeton University and a Master of Arts in composition from Stony Brook University. He is currently working towards a Master of Fine Arts from the Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts with advisors Sarah Schlesinger, Fred Carl, and Donna DiNovelli while also pursuing a doctorate at Stony Brook under Professor Sheila Silver. Previous advisors include Matthew Barnson, Scott Burnham, Gabriel Crouch, Barbara White, and Peter Winkler.
